Time for a new contest feature!
Américo Neves has kindly sent 3 packs of 10 character design postcard sized prints to ILikeCharacters.com, taken from his character art exhibition in Macao, China, for this months ILikeCharacters contest!

Américo Neves is a graduate from the Kent Institute of Art and Design (KIAD), now the University for the Creative Arts, and for the passed 2 years he has been creating a mini-universe of colourful, witty, playful characters; driven by his strong passion for character art.

Américo is a collector of all things character art, including designer toys and specialist magazines and books. Américo admits that character art is a pretty much unheard of concept in his town of Macao, China, which is why he was so keen to make a lasting impression with his first solo exhibit at the local Creative Macau art gallery earlier this year.

Américo told me, “The exhibition marked a success in my career. More people know who am I, what I do and, of course, what character design is too. Since this kind of art is something new to people around here, I was also invited for a couple of interviews too.”
Américo is currently designing new characters in preparation for new exhibitions.

On a personal note, I have to say that I have true admiration for artists like Américo Neves. Driven by his passion for character art, he is has become a something of a character art pioneer within his local art community. Keep up the good work Américo!
